Windfall Elimination Provision

Will receive greatly reduced percentage of what you are entitled to in Social Security unless:

• + Eligible to retire prior to January of 1986
• + Have 30 years of substantial earnings.
• + You are eligible for Medicare
• + WE ALL MUST HELP TO REPEAL OF THE WEP/GPO

The Windfall Elimination Provision affects teachers who expect to collect a Social Security benefit based on earnings in the Social Security System, unless they were eligible to retire before January 1, 1986. Eligibility for retirement for pre-1978 teachers is 20 years of creditable service or age 55. To determine eligibility, contact the retirement board.
