PTAA has been exclusively endorsed by REAM since 1999

The Retired Educators Association of Massachusetts and PTAA have joined together and are committed to serving the needs and interests of its members based on democratic principles. We encourage the use of our members' collective power to promote their economic and social well being while utilizing their professional background and collegiality to develop a sense of community.

As an organization devoted specifically to retired and active educational personnel, the Retired Educators Association of Massachusetts stands as their advocate and is committed to taking any necessary action to promote and protect the interest of its members.

About Ream

The Association was founded in 1951 and is the oldest organization in the state for retired educators. It was called the Massachusetts Retired Teachers' Association at that time. In 1997 the name was changed to Retired Educators Association of Massachusetts (REAM) to keep from confusing it with other organizations which had established themselves within the Commonwealth. It is made up of a state unit which is located at 165 Lakeside Avenue, Marlborough,MA 01752, and 17 chapters throughout the state. At the state level, it is governed by state officers that are elected, an executive director that is appointed by the Board of Directors, and the Board of Directors that is made up of at least one person elected by each chapter.

There is a strong social element within the association. Most of the social events are at the chapter level, but there are a few events that are open to all the chapters. The main emphasis of the association is to initiate and support legislation that will benefit its membership, particularly, but not exclusively, the COLA (Cost of Living Adjustment).

REAM publishes a quarterly newsletter to keep its membership informed of pertinent issues.
